Full disclosure: I don’t know everything, but I will always research or reach out to those who should be the experts to get answers! I also took sections of the full user-guide and pasted them here. No intention of plagiarism, I just didn’t think you’d want to go through the full guide. ??‍♀️ Links for full documents are listed at the end of this document.

Connectivity/Display Options:

  • From your computer:
    • Use the iProjection application for wireless display, make sure that PC Interactivity option (displayed on the bottom left side of the board) is ON, for you to be able to control your computer from the board, and at this point you may use the Easy Interactive tools on your laptop to open/use the whiteboard.
*When using iProjection to connect to the projector with either your laptop or iPad, the Home screen on the board will show the Input labeled as LAN.

    • You may also connect your computer via the USB and HDMI cables to display and use Easy Interactive tools on your computer. To keep things in perspective this setup is just like our old Promethean boards, the HDMI connects to video & audio and the USB allows you to control your computer from the board. When using this option, the Home menu will display this Input as HDBaseT.

  • From iPad:
    • You may use the iProjection app on your iPad to connect to the projector, but this app will only display through its interface, so you must queue up your content prior to display.

    • To view the entire iPad Home screen > tap the Home button on the board menu > tap HDMI2. On your iPad use the ScreenSharing option from the Control Center (slide your finger on your iPad down from the top right corner) to your room’s Apple TV.

**Apple TVs are named with the room’s number +APLTV to denote device type.

You may use Split screen to display two sources at a time, please note that there will be a brief “touch” delay when toggling between windows.

  • USB flash drive:
    • You may use a FAT32 (Windows) formatted drive (which I will supply) to place pictures or Easy Interactive Slides created from your computer onto. This is helpful in case you have a sub that needs to run a lesson and we don’t have a sub laptop available. You may also save Whiteboard sessions or Annotations to the USB drive from the board by connecting it to the USB port on the HDBaseT station.
Note that we do not have the option to save to the network because we don’t host an internal file server. You may alternatively email yourself a whiteboard file as a EWS (Epson file) or PDF by using the menu.

*Annotation tools (writing over any projected image) are available while displaying from any source, simply shut off the PC Interactivity option on the board. A pop-up message on the board will indicate when annotation is enabled or disabled (bottom right of figure 2).

Make sure to either save or delete your Annotations if you are going to switch to PC Interactivity and work on your connected laptop/iPad and don’t want to see markings over the projected images.

Please note that when toggling between input sources or standalone whiteboard there will be a brief delay for the touch feature to adjust! Also note that pens do shut off automatically after 15 seconds of inactivity.

Using the Pens

Your projector came with a blue pen and an orange pen, identified by the color strip at the end of the pen. You can use either pen, or both pens at the same time (one of each color) in built-in whiteboard or annotation mode.

Make sure the pen batteries are installed.

Note:
The pen turns off automatically after 15 seconds of inactivity. Hold the pen to turn the pen back on.
* If you are using two pens at the same time, make sure to use them at least 4 inches (10.16 cm) apart to avoid interference.
* To check the battery, press and hold the function button. If the battery is low, the light flashes. If the light does not turn on or flash, replace the battery.

For best performance:

  • Do not push pen too hard onto the board as the tip will bloom and fall apart. Too much pressure can
  • Hold the pen perpendicular to the board, as shown below. Do not cover the black section near the tip of the pen.
  • Place your batteries in the charger every Friday!

Whiteboard -Using the Toolbar

The toolbar appears on the projected image (Annotation or Mouse mode) or on a blank surface, background
image, or pattern (Whiteboard mode). You can write or draw with an interactive pen or your finger (if applicable)
and capture, save, or print your pages. In Mouse mode, you can interact with your desktop to do things like open applications, access links, and operate scroll bars. You can perform the following functions on the toolbar. (If you are using a document camera, a toolbar is available on the Camera screen as well.)

Troubleshooting Tips

Issue: Pens lag too much to write, do not perform as expected.

Troubleshooting: Check battery level, use a fully charged battery.

Issue: Both pens are misbehaving and battery levels show full.

Troubleshooting: Use Auto-calibration by pressing the User button on your remote control. This action can clear up any small discrepancies between touch/pen functionality.

**When running Auto-calibration ensure that on sunny days the blinds are down, shut off lights.

*Band Room: ensure that the light pointing in the direction of the whiteboard is off as well before auto-calibrating the projector.

Issue: Computer will not display to the board even after connecting the HDMI cable.

Troubleshooting:

  • Restart your computer, try again.
  • Restart the projector if restarting the computer does not resolve issue.
  • Unplug and re-plug the HDMI cable from your computer, try again.
  • If connecting with Epson iProject on your computer, fully quit the application with its full menu, located by the Apple menu or Force Quit by using the Apple menu.
  • If your hair is on fire and you cannot figure it out, please call extension 1002
